Summary Certified reference materials are an important tool for quality assurance in analytical chemistry and many other fields. In the lecture, future developments and trends in the field of reference materials will be highlighted. In connection with this, important aspects from metrology and standardization (ISO TC 334, ISO REMCO) will be discussed.
